The Renaissance is a period in Europe, from the 14th to the 17th century, considered the bridge between the Middle Ages and modern history. The literature of the Renaissance is characterized by the adoption of a humanist philosophy, the recovery of the classical literature of Antiquity and benefited from the spread of printing. This guide will take you a four-day journey to the countries that are most influenced during the Renaissance.

TAKE ME ON A JOURNEY

Day-1

On the first day of journey to Spain, we will look at a notable Spanish novel, Don Quixte, by Miguel de Cervantes. We will also explore the concept of chivalry, human possibility, and the popularity of fantastic stories about knights during the Renaissance period.

Day-2

Italy, the earliest manifestation of the general European Renaissance that began in here, marking the transition between Medieval and Early Modern Europe. We will look at an Italian story, Federigo's Falcon, by Giovanni Boccaccio and delve into the concept of courtly love and situational irony.

Day-3

Countinue our journey to England, we will read through the sonnets written by one of the most eminent poet all the time – William Shakespeare; we will then study how his words connect to the literary concepts during Renaissance.

Day-4

Lastly, we will visit Thomas More's Utopia, where is a region teaming with mystery and imagination. Through Thomas More's Utopia, we will look at how does an ideal society lead to the difference between society and individual.
